To set the text color to a cell
Step 1
Select (click) the cell whose text color you want to set.
Suppose you select the cell shown below and the "Color" submenu opens.
Step 2
Click a color of your choice in the "Text Color" section. In this example, Red was selected.
Now, the background color of the cell is green, the text color of the cell and the background color of the "Text Color" button are red. This means that the operation was successful, and the cell now has a text color set to it, and the highlight color of the button indicates what that color is. If you move to another cell, you will see that the background color of the button changes to a color that matches the text color of that cell if any.
Tip: Toggle the "Text Color" button or click the color to apply or delete the background color of the cell.
To set the text color to a range of cells
Step 1
Select the range of cells for which you want to set the text color. For instructions about how to select multiple cells, click here.
Suppose you have selected a range of cells as shown below in orange.
Step 2
Click on the color you want to set in the "Text Color" section. In this example, Blue was selected. Now, the background color of the cells is green, the text color of the cells and the background color of the "Text Color" button are blue. This means that the operation was successful.
Tips: When a range of cells are selected:
1) Click the "Text Color" button, the text color of the cells will change to yellow (default text color), and then click it again to delete the text color.
2) Click a color in the "Text Color" section, it will be applied to the selected cells, click another color, that color will be applied. This is a quick way to set the text color for a range of cells.
Note: The text color function can only be applied to cells. It does not apply to rows or columns.
Tip: When choosing text and background colors, make sure the contrast is strong enough to enable those with some vision loss to read the text. If the background is dark, the text should be light; otherwise, the text should be light. If the background is light, the text should be dark.
